Maltese emigrant Baldas divides a life living with his mother in the Melbourne suburbs and an annual sojourn to his laundry-sized apartment in Malta - the comic anxieties and tensions of domesticity leading to his trips contrasting with his faux-playboy lifestyle abroad.

Baldas' stylish and suspense-filled adventure is complicated by his womanising, exposing his whereabouts to a Maltese soccer team, still seeking retribution for a post-War own-goal loss which forced his migration.
